決定人與人之間聯繫的，不是科技。
正如很多人說互聯網使人疏離，fB不能真正助你維繫友誼，我們甚至連鄰居都不認識。
的確，鄰居對我來說和陌生人沒什麼分別。
不過，在未有互聯網前，我也已經不怎認識他們。
這些年來，反而透過網路和fB，認識了新的朋友，再拉近了彼此的關係。
我相信，投緣的人自然會熟絡起來；科技只是一種途徑，極其量為人提供了一段安全距離。
對有興趣和沒興趣認識的人，我們其實早已在心中設定了priority。
說科技，或互聯網，或fB，或是手機使人疏離，實在是把自己不願意跟人交往的責任，轉移到工具上而已。
把人聯繫起來的，不是科技。同時把人分隔的，也不是科技。
決定一切的，其實是我們自己。

YAY I finally am able to leave some constructive comments for you guys... and yea I love this topic, because i just have a lot to express on both yours and Kay's entry. I personally agree with you, it's just diff ways of connecting with one another, but I am also open minded when it comes to criticisms from older generations. They often criticize the kids nowadays (after-80s/90s) are really bad at connecting with people through "talking" or expressing ourselves in person. In a way, it is true.
ReplyDeleteOne thing though, I was very close with my neighbors when I was little, it's quite different now. The real world now has gotten a little too "cold", yet our virtual life has blossomed, everyone of us talks to every one, even strangers. I love technology and the internet, yet I also enjoy connecting with real humans. I think it's inevitable to be connecting with one another in the virtual world now... it can never go back to the way it used to be. I still wish there can be real-life gatherings, movies, shopping... in future, have you guys seen the movie "Minority Report"? People there go to a place and pay for an "experience", but it's all virtual, even sex!
hehe right. i kinda feel 新瓶舊酒 when i was writing this.
ReplyDeletebut it's kinda inspired from how my recent social life always occurs with friends i met from the internet, instead of classmates.
that's when i feel it's totally possible that technology and internet can connect people. not like how some people claim that it makes us farther and farther.

ReplyDeleteu have actually brought up a few points that i wanna mention in the entry. like how the world is getting "colder" now. and it's not becoz of the "rise" of internet. internet is actually the thing that helps connect us when everyone is feeling defensive for their own privacy.
and also the fact that we can't go back the way it was. there's no point for some people to blame that "internet isolates people". do they actually want us to communicate with pigeons once again?!
anyway i will give Minority Report a watch when i have time~
i see internet and communication devises as a way to help connect with ppl. i, for example is a traveling salesman, back in the days without internet, its nearly impossible to keep up with frds and family back home, and keep any form of social relationship alive, (if you guys read the book "death of a salesmen" it talks about that).
ReplyDeletemoreover, i think internet isolates ppl only if they choose to, i mean, its more of a personal issue/problem then just blaming the technology as a whole. like people blame violence on video games, i believe its a matter of education and how we choose to handle the technology that's given to us. a good example will be like giving a gun to a monkey, it will do more harm then good if one does know how to handle it properly.
