I can totally feel you on this one... however I do not feel embarrassed, I just feel unhappy. it's like u will never be able to find anywhere you can belong to. its pretty sad... yet unique... I know who I am, and I learned to be proud of myself as I grew up. And it's true, we all will learn to be comfortable with the way we are growing up, the worst period of our life is being a teenager, we want to get that recognition from every one else so we tend to hate diff things abt ourselves, and just simply hate ourselves. we would try to blend into diff culture/ppl
the funny thing is, i feel proud when i know i am different from average hongkongers.
i think with a different mindset. not going with the flow. when they are dwelling on stupid things like it's the event of the decade, i just feel that it doesn't worth too much focus actually. there is a bigger world out there, with real issues, or something real interesting.
anyway not trying to be cynical. haha but i dun feel proud to be an average chinese. i feel proud to be different.
yes!! like back in high school days, i just want to be like everyone, and being different was like a bad thing, but after high school, you realize being unique is the key, and its more difficult to be our true self.
yea, one big part of HK that i don't feel connected with is the scaremongering that is going on every now and then. i know there are people that is better then that, but sadly, that is probably less then 20% of the total population of HK...
To me, we came to this world with bare hands and we will leave with bare hands for sure, no matter how hard we try, we can only be an intelligent monkey. So, what's the big deal? Life is short and there are so many things that we can't choose and can't control. I would rather having fun as much as I could.

each to their own la, 如果做人沒有要求同野生動物沒有分別吧, life in HK isn't so bad now, coz dubai makes hk seems like Disneyland.
